Preview:
In Wandy Rodriguez's last start against the Reds, he allowed just two runs, both on solo home runs, in a 6-0 loss to Cincinnati. Today, Rodriguez has the tough task of keeping the ball in the yard against one of the most dangerous home run-hitting teams in baseball, the Atlanta Braves.
Rodriguez (6-3, 3.47 ERA) will face Braves youngster Julio Teheran. Teheran has gone at least six innings in each of his past five starts, allowing just ten earned runs in 34 2/3 innings. Rodriguez did dominate the Braves earlier this season, pitching seven innings of shutout ball while only giving up a single hit in the 6-0 win back on April 19.
In Teheran's (3-2, 3.71 ERA) previous start against the Nationals, he allowed three runs on seven hits, walked a batter, and struck out nine over 6 2/3 innings in the loss. Teheran in an earlier outing against this same Pirates team went five innings and surrendered four runs on seven hits, walked three, and struck out four in the no decision.
After this series, Pittsburgh is off to the northside of Chicago to begin a three-game series with the Cubs, while the Braves head out west for a seven-game road trip in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Starling Marte struggling:
Pirates OF Starling Marte has been struggling at the plate to say the least. In his final six games of May, Marte hit only .115. Marte showed signs of a breakthrough when he delivered a pinch-hit single against the Reds on Saturday. In the following three games, he went 2-for-14 with a couple of walks.

Justin Upton top vote getter among outfielders:
In the All-Star voting update, Braves OF Justin Upton is first among National League outfielders in votes for the 2013 All-Star Game at Citi Field. Upton has 14 home runs and has driven in 29 runs.
If the voting stands, this would be Upton's first All-star start and would be his third appearance. He trails only Buster Posey in votes among all National League players.

Side note:
Braves have the best record at home this season, going 20-7 (.741).
Wandy Rodriguez has fared well against the Braves in his career, going 4-3 with a 3.08 ERA in 12 career starts.
Atlanta has a seven-game lead over the Nationals in the NL East, the largest division lead of any first-place team in baseball.
Freddie Freeman is 12th in the NL in hitting (.311) and 7th in RBI (40).
