Preview:
Hyun-Jin Ryu takes the mound for the Dodgers to make his first start since May 28. The lefty was scratched from his start on Sunday because of a sore left foot. Ryu took a comebacker off that left foot during his two-hit shutout of the Angels. In that start, Ryu fanned seven Angels hitters, in by far his best outing as a Major Leaguer.
Ryu took a no-decision vs. the Braves back on May 17 in Atlanta, when he surrendered five walks over just five innings while allowing two runs. That start was the only in which Ryu did not pitch into the sixth inning.
Taking the hill for Atlanta will be left-hander Paul Maholm, who has won his last three starts. In his last start against the Nationals, Maholm allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits over six innings. The southpaw beat Ryu and these same Dodgers earlier this season by tossing six innings while giving up only two runs on eight hits.

Injury bug biting Dodgers:
Ted Lilly is now questionable to make his scheduled start Sunday against the Braves due to an ailing neck. Don Mattingly did not say who would replace Lilly if he is not able to start on Sunday.
As for Carl Crawford, Dodgers expect him to miss more than the minimum 15 days on the disabled list after an MRI revealed swelling in his strained left hamstring. Crawford was placed on the DL on Monday, retroactive to June 2.
Hanley Ramirez is not in the lineup for the second consecutive night with left hamstring tightness, the same hamstring that landed him on the disabled list, two games after returning from a broken bone in his right thumb.

BJ Upton showing progress, patience at the plate:
Following a horrendous start to the season, Braves CF BJ Upton is still trying to work himself out of his prolonged slump, but over the last couple of games Upton has shown patience at the plate, walking three times against the Pirates on Wednesday and walked two more times in last night's game against the Dodgers.

Side note:
Skip Schumaker, who is not in the lineup tonight for the Dodgers, extended his hit streak to 13 games last night.
Braves are 25-3 (.893) in games this season in which they score first.
In ten career start against the Dodgers, Paul Maholm is 2-5 with a 4.72 ERA to go along with just 28 strikeouts in 61 innings pitched.
In only five games in the month of June, Justin Upton is hitting .250/.348/.250 with no home runs and no runs driven in to go along with nine strikeouts in 20 at-bats.
